Understanding Buildra plans and tier limits
Solo, Crew, Firm, and Scale — what each tier includes, project caps, and when to upgrade.
Buildra has four plans: Solo, Crew, Firm, and Scale. They differ in active-project count, storage, AI usage, and the depth of advanced modules. Picking the right one means matching your real volume of work — not the volume you wish you had.
The four plans at a glance
- Solo — $39/mo:3 active projects, 1 user, 5 GB storage, 50 AI Q&A queries per month. Built for handymen, fractional PMs, and one-person shops.
- Crew — $99/mo:10 active projects, up to 5 users, 25 GB storage, 250 AI queries. Built for residential GCs doing 6–12 jobs a year.
- Firm — $299/mo: 30 active projects, up to 15 users, 100 GB storage, 1,000 AI queries. The mid-market plan most of our customers land on.
- Scale — $599/mo: Unlimited active projects, unlimited users, 500 GB storage, unlimited AI queries, plus advanced modules (bid leveling, scenarios, executive summary, custom forms).
What "active project" means
Active projects count against your tier. Archived and completed projects do not. A typical residential GC has 6–10 jobs running at once, which is why Crew is the most common starting tier.
Tip: If you bump into the active-project cap mid-month, archive a finished job rather than upgrading. Archived projects retain every document, photo, and decision — they just stop counting.
How upgrades and downgrades work
- Go to
/settings/subscription. - Click Change plan.
- Pick the new plan.
- Review the prorated charge or credit on the confirmation screen.
- Click Confirm change.
Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated against your billing cycle. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep the higher tier until the cycle resets.
What happens when you hit a limit
- Active-project cap:The “New project” button is disabled with a prompt to archive a project or upgrade.
- Storage cap: Uploads are blocked with a clear error. Existing files remain readable.
- AI query cap: Ask Buildra responses pause with a banner offering a one-click pack of 500 extra queries ($25) or a plan upgrade.
- User cap: The Invite member button shows the cap and gives you a one-click upgrade.
Annual discount
Annual billing knocks 20% off any plan — Crew at $79/mo billed annually, Firm at $239/mo, Scale at $479/mo. The 30-day refund window applies to annual subscriptions; monthly subscriptions have a 14-day refund window starting from the first charge of a fresh subscription.
Add-ons available on every tier
- Extra AI queries: $25 per 500 queries, valid 90 days.
- Extra storage: $10 per 50 GB per month.
- Premium integrations: $20/mo each for Procore-equivalent enterprise connectors (currently in beta).
If you are unsure, start on Crew with monthly billing. The 14-day money-back window gives you a real chance to find your fit without risk.
