Changing your Buildra plan
Upgrade or downgrade in two clicks. What gets prorated, what is locked in, and how teams scale.
Changing your Buildra plan is intentionally two clicks. Upgrade when you grow; downgrade when projects wrap. Here is exactly what happens at each step.
How to change plan
- Go to
/settings/subscription. - Click Change plan.
- Pick the new plan from the four options.
- Review the prorated charge or credit shown on the confirmation screen.
- Click Confirm change.
Upgrades
Upgrades take effect immediately. You are charged the prorated difference between your current plan and the new plan for the remainder of your billing period. The new tier's limits apply instantly:
- More active projects available.
- More AI queries unlocked.
- More user seats opened.
- More storage allocated.
Tip: If you are upgrading mid-cycle because you bumped against a limit, the upgrade is the cheapest way out. Add-on packs (extra AI queries or storage) cost more per unit than just moving up a tier.
Downgrades
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep the higher tier until the cycle resets, then move to the lower tier. No refund is issued for unused time on the higher plan.
Before the downgrade takes effect, Buildra checks that your usage will fit the new tier:
- If you have more active projects than the new tier allows, you must archive enough to fit.
- If you have more users than the new tier allows, you must revoke enough.
- Stored data above the new tier's limit becomes read-only (you can view and download but cannot upload more).
Annual vs. monthly
You can switch billing frequency at the same time as a plan change. Annual saves 20%. Switching from monthly to annual charges the prorated annual amount immediately; switching from annual to monthly takes effect at the end of the current annual term.
Promo codes and grandfathered pricing
If you have a promo code, enter it on the confirmation screen. Grandfathered pricing (from early-access or beta) is preserved across plan changes. If you ever downgrade and then upgrade again, your grandfathered rate is honored — we do not silently re-rate you.
Invoices and receipts
Every plan change generates an invoice. Find them under /settings/subscription → Billing history. Invoices are emailed to the billing contact on file (set under /settings/billing-contact).
If a payment fails
We retry the charge three times over 7 days. If it still fails, the workspace enters a grace period — read-only access for an additional 7 days. After that, the workspace is suspended until payment is resolved. No data is deleted.
