Canceling your subscription
How to cancel, what happens to your projects, refund windows, and re-activation later.
Canceling your subscription is straightforward and reversible. Here is what happens to your projects, your refund eligibility, and how to re-activate later.
How to cancel
- Go to
/settings/subscription. - Scroll to the bottom and click Cancel subscription.
- Pick a reason (this is optional but it genuinely helps us improve).
- Confirm the cancellation. You will see the effective end date (typically the end of your current billing period).
What happens at the end of the period
Your workspace transitions to a read-only state. You can:
- Sign in.
- View all projects, documents, photos, and decisions.
- Export data (CSV, PDF, full project ZIP).
- Re-activate at any time.
You cannot:
- Create new projects.
- Upload new files.
- Run AI queries.
- Invite new users.
Important: Read-only mode lasts 12 months. After that, the workspace is queued for deletion with a 30-day grace window during which you can re-activate and recover everything.
Refund eligibility
- Monthly plans: 14-day money-back guarantee from the date of first charge on a fresh subscription. Cancel within 14 days for a full refund. After 14 days, no prorated refund — you finish the current month.
- Annual plans: 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of first charge on a fresh annual subscription. After 30 days, no prorated refund — you finish the year.
- Add-on packs: Non-refundable once activated, but they do not expire and remain usable through your read-only window.
Exporting your data before you go
We recommend running a full export before cancellation. Go to /settings/data-export and click Export everything. We generate a ZIP archive within a few hours and email a download link. The export includes:
- Every project's document folder.
- Photos (full resolution).
- CSVs of structured data (RFIs, submittals, budget, etc.).
- A PDF of every daily log, RFI, submittal, and change order.
Re-activating
To re-activate, sign in and click the Re-activate banner. Pick a plan, enter (or re-confirm) payment info, and you are back where you left off. All data, settings, and integrations are preserved.
Deleting your account entirely
If you want to delete the workspace immediately (rather than wait the 12 months in read-only), email support@buildra.appfrom the Owner's registered email. Allow 7 days for confirmation and full purge. Once purged, data is unrecoverable.
Common questions
- Do my subs and clients lose access? Yes, at the end of the period. They will see a polite cancellation message on any deep link.
- What about Stripe and QuickBooks connections? Those connections persist on the provider side until you revoke them. Re-activating Buildra picks them back up.
